I have a 16:9 recording on DVD RAM that I want to be copy to DVD-R on my PC BUT in 16:9 OR 4:3 Letter-Boxed.

I know the crucial ws flag is not recorded to DVD-R, but is there a way of altering something in the header so I can chose whether it'll be 16:9 or 4:3 letter-boxed (black bars added).

Can I do all this when the menus and chapters have been added or am I best using two seperate files, one for each.

Basically I want to be able to toggle the recording between the two AR formats depending on what type of TV the end user has.

You can change the 16:9/4:3 flag using DVD Patcher. I used it on the Star Wars laserdisc conversion I did before I got the hang of using TMPGenc to do it properly.

    You can find it here:

More info if you use the search. I think someone said you can use it on vob files too, which makes it sounds as if you can change stuff from the authored DVD too.
