Count Yorga?! Haha I remember this being crap but funny years ago. Might rent this!
Check your memory it may be wrong. There's a great performance by Robert McQuarry, the plot is true to the book with some quirky touches of it's own. The only critism is not much happens during the film which refects the low budget but all in all it's was a good, for the time, revival of gothic horror. I'll be buying this.

Definitely remember laughing at this one but...it was a LONG time ago, probably the 90s!

The Seven Minutes - 5th September 2016
Link: The Seven Minutes

A BANNED BOOK, A RAPE, AND A TRIAL THAT TORE A TOWN APART!

When Twentieth Century Fox signed sexploitation maestro Russ Meyer to a multi-picture deal, this resulted in two films. The first was the legendary Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. The second was the little-seen The Seven Minutes, about a subject that could hardly have been closer to Meyer’s heart.

Based on the best-selling novel by Irving Wallace, The Seven Minutes is also the title of a notorious 1930s book whose belated publication in the US triggers an obscenity lawsuit, prompted by a hitherto clean-living young man raping a fellow student and leaving her for dead. But is the resulting trial a sincere exploration of links between (alleged) pornography and real-life violence or an attempted Kafkaesque stitch-up involving a shady businessman, ambitious politicians in search of a populist bandwagon, and even the Vatican?

With a dazzling cast including cult legends John Carradine, Yvonne De Carlo (The Munsters), Jay C. Flippen (The Killing), Wolfman Jack (Motel Hell), Charles Napier (The Blues Brothers) and future star Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I.), The Seven Minutes is an absorbing, intelligent and thought-provoking drama.

SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS
  • DVD presentation of the longer cut of The Seven Minutes, including the notorious sex-film studio scene
  • Dolby Digital 1.0 sound, with optional English subtitles for the deaf and hearing-impaired
  • Sinister Image, an interview with Russ Meyer and his former model Yvette Vickers
  • Theatrical trailer

I could easily drop all those (apart from Dolls and Minutes which I've already got). A great month!!!!!

And another dull month from Arrow. Raising Cain could be a purchase one day. I don't mind though, i'm just really really really ecstatic about the upcoming Alan Clarke Box set which should keep me happy for the rest of the year :)

Except it isn't a "dull month from Arrow" if people are interested in some, or all of those releases, is it?

Not remotely dull for me. An Arrow release of Raising Cain is huge, a The Hills Have Eyes LE is most welcome and more Joe Dante is always a good thing.

This. Spot on squire. Plus post apocalyptic and horror fromage to boot. Sweet.

I suppose not. I guess I am just not as big into those uber horror films as other people on here are.

The 'dull' comment is a bit unfair, I just wish Arrow were releasing films I really want like a lot of neglected 90's films. Their release of Bound was great and would love to see more films from that era released as I feel like they've more or less peaked with the 70s/80s exploitation films and there is very little support for 90's cinema on blu ray overall.

Little seen yet great films like the two punch Dan Rosen blackly comical The Last Supper & Dead Man's Curve, John Fawcett and Karen Walton's Canadian gothic masterpiece Ginger Snaps, Abel Ferrara's unique take on the vampire mythology in The Addiction as well as his version of Body Snatchers, which I feel is by far the most stylistically adventurous of the 'bodysnatcher' films. Also, Bill Duke's slick neo noir Deep Cover and Peter Berg's best feature Very Bad Things would also be most welcome. These films fit the cult label and are just ripe for 'The Arrow Treatment'.

That said, I do feel like Arrow are doing a fab job with the Academy series. And their Rainer Werner Fassbinder boxset is astounding on every level.

It's nice that they are getting more Craven. Definitely appropriate. I admit I haven't seen his original Hills Have Eyes, but I saw the remake, which was grotesque and disturbing, but still pretty compelling. I dunno if this will have any impact on me.

Some cracking titles there have to admit! The one I'm waiting for is Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead (I know it's on a Spanish blu, but a full on special edition would make my head explode!). Throw in 2 Days in the Valley too and my wallet would be even emptier than it already will be!

Nice shout out to TTDIDWYD. Used to watch it all the time when it would air on BBC1. Yeah, would definitely be great to get that.

I've only seen parts of 2 Days In The Valley, and I think it was Charlize Theron's first major role. I just vaguely remember her getting her bits and bobs out :D

Well to break the consensus I think so too. Not interested much in horror titles. Was really hoping that To Live And Die In LA would be announced. Fantastic movie.

The Hills have eyes and Raising Cain are day one for me, maybe Dead end drive in, Heard a rumour the they might release The Burning so hopefully that will happen soon

Hills Have Eyes is a must, I'd also pick up Matinee, haven't seen it for 20 yrs I reckon!

Not a rumour - The Burning IS coming.

Already have the two Russ Meyers and the German Blu of Matinee. But I've been waiting years for Raising Cain to appear on Blu. Will probably give The Hills Have Eyes a dip as well.

September announcements continue with a couple of Arrow Academy releases...
