just discovered my t.table is an ariston transcription made in 87.does anyone know anything about this deck, bought it eight years ago for £40,but only recently started to use it,it appears to have a fairly good tonearm, cart i,m not sure about prob the original.i,m using an audio tech stylus.it doesnt sound as good as i expect though, the sounds very weedy sometimes and has no real depth.keep checking for the obvious like tracking, quality of styli etc.,do you think a cart upgrade would help,or should i consider an upgraded deck? any thoughts would be good.
    cheers

Do you know the model number? What about the arm?
Ariston made some very fine transcription turntbles and quite a few came without an arm, leaving you to fit your own, so it would be difficult to recommend a new cartridge without knowing what the arm is.
A photo would do if there's no obvious markings - i'm sure someone here will be able to identify it!

They did, and dishwashers too - some of which were actually made by Zanussi.

Crikey - maybe Hotpoint or Indesit made the turntables for them??
