Catalogue retailer looks to cash in

Just a matter of days after Tesco launched its Hudl tablet device, Argos has announced one of its own, which undercuts the Supermarket chains' product by nearly £20

The MyTablet is available from today, priced at £99.99, and features a 7-inch display. It runs on Android version 4.2.2 and comes pre-loaded with apps including Facebook and Twitter to reflect the fact it's aimed at a younger audience.

The device has choices of pink or silver, metallic cases.

A spokesman said the device has been designed "with teenagers in mind offering all the functionality of a traditional tablet with built-in parental controls for younger users".

The screen resolution is - a nothing to write home about - 1024x600 but the 1.6Hz dual core processor should provide reasonable performance and there's 8GB of internal, expandable via a Micro SD port which can support cards up to 32 GB.

There's also a rear-facing 2MP camera, as well as a lower res one on the front and it comes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.

The high street retailer also revealed that sales via mobile devices now accounted for 15% of its total sales.

Yeah but Tesco's tablet has a quad core cpu and twice the built in memory.

Neither are to my liking, but go one for my sons Christmas. Decent'ish stuff for Android tablets now, and our kids' priority now is streaming, FB. Either of these are fine for that kind of stuff.
