  2. I watch less movies on Sky. I've got a 4.3 TV and hate the black bars...

  3. It makes no difference - I saw all the films about a year ago on R1 DVD...

Well, we asked for it (for years and years). And we finally got it. All Sky movie channels available in glorious widescreen...and for us lucky Sky+ owners, 3 channels available in lovely DD 5.1 as well.
The question is - has it changed your viewing habits? Do you watch more movies on Sky now? Or have your viewing habits not changed a bit?

    This should be interesting...

Yes I do watch more movies now. I've even ordered Sky+ to take advantage of the Dolby Digital sound.

    Missing option from poll:

    • I don't have $ky.

At (what is it now?) GBP35 per month, I think it is way too expensive. Equates to 2 DVDs per month give or take. I spend less than that per month to buy every movie I want to see, on DVD - get it sooner - and can watch it as many times as I want, whenever I want.

Without logos (I know they don't have them on the premium movie channels), without voiceover or video-overs in the end titles, and (usually) with extras.

    Why read the thread then?

Anyway, I was about to cancel the Movie channels but they now have a stay of execution!

The problem is: will I record more rubbish? Time will tell.

I may not be watching "more" films but it gives me more choice as I found myself only making an effort to watch films when shown on 305 (via Sky+) or the Movie Max package as at the time they were 4:3 only and never going to be shown on 305.

Now, not only do we have 3 5.1 channels but it would seem all the movie channels have gone Widescreen where film stock allows.

I didn't realise that Movie max was going to go WS so that's a nice bonus.

    Cheers Sky (finally)

Same here - I may not be watching more- but at least I know now there is more of a chance that 'new' films will be shown in WS and where possible 5.1

I only used to watch 305!

I only noticed yesterday when i tried to see what was on 305.

I thought "I don't believe it, they've taken the bloody widescreen channel off".

Thinking about upgrading my package, which movie channels are broadcasting in 5.1, is it the premier movie channels ?

Sky Premier 1,2 & 3 broadcast some movies (roughly 3 or 4 each a night at the moment) in DD 5.1. As a matter of interest, Harry Potter & The Philosophers stone was broadcast with the Surround EX flag...my amp was on auto detect and it lit up my surround back channel without me having to manually switch it on...a pleasure only reserved so far for a handful of EX DVD's and most dts ES DVD's...:)
