I've often wondered if 10% of the population REALLY ARE left-handed. I'm sure its more than that, but I'd quite like to find out....

sorry if this seems like spam, i'm just very bored, and inquisitive.

    I'm left-handed btw :)

Shouldn't this be a poll. Or are you gonna keep a tick sheet with your lefty.

Can you claim dissability benefit for being left handed? :D It's a bit like being ginger I suppose, strange, but not quite disabled.

Needs to be a poll, but I suspect that the lefties will be more interested in the title than us norms, so that may skew the results.

All racket sports left handed, golf right handed, throw balls right handed, darts left handed, canoe right handed and write left handed. I never know which hand to use and have to try both :D

I thought it was 1/4 of people that were left handed. Apparently it also knocks several years off your life as well being a lefty!

Its not as bad as being ginger - probably about 20% on the Ginger scale of things.

    ie:
Not so bad requireing them to be put up for adoption, or simply abandoning them out on the moors, but certainly keeping them locked up below stairs to save embarassment.

there is a tribe of them living feral in the Trough of Bowland.
recent attempts to cull the numbers have so far been unsucessful, incidents of sheep worrying have been on the rise in the area for the past 12 years.

The Devil has been associated with the left hand in various ways and is normally portrayed as being left-handed in pictures and other images

In Christianity, the parable of the sheep and goats. The sheep are set on Christ's right hand and the goats on the left. Those on the right inherit the kingdom of god while those on the let depart into everlasting fire.

In Islam, the left hand and everything associated with it is seen as unclean. This stems from the Middle Eastern custom of using the left-hand and water instead of toilet paper.

The right hand often symbolises 'male' while the left hand is 'female'.

so to summarise, left handers are Effeminate people who will burn in hell and anything they touch smells faintly of poo

I was going to say I heard that LH people die earlier.

I think it means the average age of death for LH is lower than that for RH people.

Right handed, but i believe that with enough practise, both hands can be as good as each other.

    Thats sounds really dirty!

I heard a teacher describe a pupil as 'profoundly left handed' - seems to go hand in hand with my boss who is sure that left handedness is caused by oxygen starvation at birth. Ho hum

Apparently, the theory goes that left-handed people die earlier, because of the stress of having to cope with so many right-handed tools/architecture/weapons/vehicles etc.

Us lefties are in good company, though:

    http://www.anythingleft-handed.co.uk/famous.html

Left-handed people apparently use their brains in a completely different way to right-handed people, which is probably why so many right-handed people seem so dull and stupid.

I voted for left-handed. I write with my left hand and would favour my left hand as the strongest for everyday tasks etc. Also play all racquet sports left handed. However I do a fair few things right-handed: play guitar right-handed, bat at cricket right-handed (though I bowl left-handed), hold a knife and fork the same way as a right-handed person (but use a spoon in my left hand). Wipe a*se and blow nose (not at the same time!) both right-handed.

Left handed for me as well. When I first went to school they offered to get rid of that defect for me!!!!!!!!!! I used to get into trouble because I turn the paper round rather than use that hook way that many use. I knew a girl at one of my schools that had had her arm tied behind her arm to prevent her writing with her left hand, never have understood why they would want to do that. A while ago a doctor said that to many ultrasounds where causing birth defects including left handedness.
