    After reading for so long about the way in which the far east Philips player the 962 is hackable for multi region and PAL progressive and has the Faroudja chipset built in (unlike our woeful versions of the Q50 which is a fully featured progressive player in the rest of the world) it seems as if we may be joining the party.

    See here;
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/mprdata/020325/0203250051_dfu.pdf

    This describes an EU version of the player with DCDi and euro scart sockets (plus SACD etc etc).

    The spec sheet seems to imply it is PAL progressive too if I'm reading it right (ie. 60Hz 720x480, 50Hz 720x576).

    Anyone with Philips connections (Chris?) know if/when we are getting these? Will they have the same firmware features ;-)

    Here's hoping.

    Regards,

    Rumours on AVS seem to suggest it'll not be before September if they are released.....too long!
