this thread http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=620989 made me think:eek:
(no offence meant to the OP)

    1. A political canvasser(local elections) went on to my friend's property and she slipped on the stairs or something similar and successfully sued my friend, even though he had NOT invited her over to his porperty:mad: so he paid for her carelessness:mad:

    2. If you smack/beat up a burglar on your property, he can sue you:mad: and even worse you can get done for ABH/GBH:eek:

    3. If I am careless/lazy and leave sharp objects around my house and a burglar hurts himself, I can get sued, ***?:confused:

seems that there are lots of litigious solicitors(as advertised on TV) that are encouraging us towards the American mentality for suing for everything:rolleyes:
remember the "customer spilt coffee in lap whilst driving and sued McDs"?
and "smoker suing ciggarette company though he started smoking AFTER the killer characteristics of ciggies were made public and HE KNEW and STILL SMOKED"
and "customer suing Wendy's for making him fat"?:D

I hope we don't become as frightened as our American cousins when it comes to running a company, because all it does is feed the solicitors:rolleyes:

Shame to see so many activities taken away from our children
like rugby, days out, extreme sports:(

    Yes and no

Yes in that there are some people who will take up no win no fee types on their offer

No in that there are outstanding citizens like moi, if I don't say so myself who didn't sue despite breaking my leg on what I could have argued to have been, a poorly maintained playing field at my old high school. I say this because a classmate broke his leg couple of years prior to me and sued successfully against the school in question

I don't believe that is true if you are using reasonable force to defend yourself, and could convince the police/courts that it was indeed reasonable.

But in these cases it is always safer to go a bit further and carefully dispose of the body, just in case.

At the end of the day, if someone is negligent in their job then they need to be punished for it.
