Looking at buying the Denon DM31 without speakers. Have been reading the forums and Quads seem to be liked amongst others. I had a quick demo this afternoon of the 11's, B2's and some Missions (not sure which ones) connected to a Rotel set up. Do you think either of these are too much for the DM31, would the sound be diff connected to the DM31? Must admit i liked the Quad's & B2's, thought the Missions were a little too clinical for me.

    TIA & Merry Christmas

The MA B2s woud be a good match for the DM31 as would the Ma B1s and the Kef Compacts and Kef Q1s. The Quads are really overkill for such a basic system, would be a better match for the Linn Classik though.

I agree the Quads would definitely be overkill for the DM31.

You wont be upset with the Kef Q1's. I would leave the Compacts though.

If you do go for the Quads though, you will save yourself an upgrade later on, as they should improve if you upgrade you amp in the future.

Must add though, the Quads are power hungry, and not sure the DM31 will drive it adequately, in which case, the Q1's may be a better buy :)

I reckon the Q-compacts would be okay for the DM31. I run these as rears in my current system and they offer good clear sound. The lack a bit on the lower end but other then that they're great speakers :smashin:
