It just seems to me that this forum is completely dominated by the hs10 and the ae300. Is this because they are the best at their price point, or is it because there are a plethora of owners of these pj's subscribed to this forum?
I'd like feedback from you as to the pros and cons of the different pj's - i.e. Sanyo, Tosh etc as well as the Panny and the Sony.
Looking at the other threads it seems the ae300 will come into the UK at approx £1500. How do other pj's compare at the same pricing point - similar question re. hs10. I'll be looking at a home cinema p.j. possibly even connected to a htpc (as long as I can sell my motorbike!) which will need to function for long periods, daytime and nightime (albeit the room I want it in doesn't get a lot of light really). Lamp life is a consideration but isn't an obstacle. So any constructive advice and opinion is very welcome. I am a novice and so are many others. Come on owners and gurus please point us in the right direction.

    Have you considered a HS10 or AE300??

Both good PJs - lots of owners with them on here.

Oh, nearly forgot, there's also a Sanyo Z1. Seems good. Loads here have one.

    More info here.

Thanks Kramer for getting the ball rolling. Bit confused with the link as it just brings up the search page.

I think that it's because they have tended to be best at their price point.

Other units maybe to start looking at:

    Sanyo Z1
    Panasonic AE300
    Sony HS10
    Optoma H50
    Epson TW100
    NEC HT1000

The prices of the above range from about £1500 to £3200

Some are DLP and some are LCD.

    You obviously need to decide:
    a) How much cash you have.
    b) DLP or LCD
    c) Resolution and intended use.

By the time you have done all that, your choices tend to drop and you end up getting an HS10... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Can you guess I'm an HS10 owner   :rotfl:

John I'd never have guessed lol. Looking at about £2k for the pj + separated budget for the htpc.

At the 2K mark I would be looking at:

    Sony HS10 (LCD)
    Optoma H50 (DLP)

maybe you could look at the epson TW100 if you can spend a bit more.

The NEC HT1000 (DLP) is supposed to be very good but it's £3100.

I looked at the optoma H50 but saw rainbows which spoiled for me. The picture on the optoma was very good however.
