Does anyone know if the Kef 5005 satellite speakers are available to buy individually in the same way that the eggs are.

If so, has anyone tried replacing their centre egg with a 5005 and moving the egg to the back ??

A local dealer in Portsmouth quoted me £149 each, but said the centre speaker was only available in a package.

    Boozyuzi,

Personally I wouldn't use the 5005 centre with the KHT2005 system.

In the ideal system all the speakers at the front should be identical as they all seemlessly integrate together to form one big soundstage.

I pressume you wish to change to the 5005 to get a bit more bass with a perception that the 5005 is a higher quality speaker.

In my experience the KHT5005 has a slightly different character to the 2005 - slightly smoother and more laid back (although possibly more refined).

IMHO I believe you would do better sticking with the KHT2005 and adding an additional 2005 sat.

Also if you have the original Mk1 eggs then it might be an idea to invest in a better sub as this was always the weakness in the original design.

    Good luck.

    add a Q9C.

It uses the same tweeter as the .2 egg.

    See www.creative-audio.co.uk

Although the 5005 speakers are not currently available individually, according to the website they should be available soon. Also this site has them for £150 with free cable.

(I've not ordered from these guys yet, but am intending to buy my new amp and speakers from them, as they have been extremely helpful, offering me plenty of advice on the phone and via e-mail.

    Cheers
