Depends entirely on weather, which channel you're watching and how generous Mr Murdock is being with his precious bandwidth (after all, one good quality broadcast is 300 hours of :censored: shopping infomercials!)

Sky have been using ariable compression across all channels for ages, and there's only so much to go around. Generally the 'non-BskyB' channels suffer the most. Generally Sky will adjust the compression whenever they feel like it, but live sports usually get the good stuff. Don't forget DD5.1 on movie channels will eat up more bandwidth.
