I have just received Phone Booth and Final Destination 2 both have full screen one side and widescreen the other. I just wanted to know if this is what most film companies are starting to do.
I would rather see widescreen on one side and extras on the other.

alot of Region 1 companies do seem to be doing this (and have done for a long time) which to be honest is good news.

it means the distribution companies know that a large percentage of people want film released in their original aspect ratio. Remember in the US, 4:3 TVs are still norm, even on big RPTVs and only the advent of High Def TV is starting to see 16:9 introduced.

    so stop complaining!

I think the first film I had that had widescreen on one side and fyll screen on another was vampires and then Bugs Life.
I have not seen many film companies do this since untill now.
