    Hi,

I've just bought a JVC SVHS VCR (7965) and I want to buy some blank SVHS tapes for it. Checking around on prices the JVC SE-180 SV tapes seem the best value (£2.44 each from KVJ Fairdeal). Does anyone use these tapes and if so are they any good, they seem significantly cheaper than some of the other brands.

    Thanks,

    Daddy.

How does the S-VHS system know it's got an S-VHS tape loaded. I have heard it is because of a hole in the cassette which avoids depressing a sensor pin in the S-VHS deck allowing it to record in S mode. I have a Thomson D-VHS machine and some E300 tapes and there are two holes in that one. Which one tells the deck it has a D-VHS tape in so I can cover it over to get my deck to record in S mode. I want to do this as the recorder won't let you jog/shuttle in digital mode but does in S-VHS and VHS modes. Silly really, but there you are.

I have had no problems using these tapes, and KVJ is the best place to get them (if you don't mind them not taking credit cards).

JVC svhs tapes are fine, no problems, but there is one tape that I've always found to be noticeably better than others and worth that little bit extra and that is TDK XP- Pro.

Very nostalgic to be talking about svhs instead of recordable DVD!

JVC are absolutely fine - I even use their SVHS tapes in a DVHS machine.
