Are Internet boosters slower than normal data sims?

A thread on here seems to indicate that deals like the tmobile Internet booster will throttle speed vs e.g unlimited data from O2 when u topup 10 pounds.

I did note that tvcatchup worked well on an O2 iPhone 3GS and stuttered on a tmobile internet booster sim in the iPad? I don't know if this was bc of the screen size, worse tmobile coverage or speed throttling.

Can anyone confirm? Thx

I've made the same comment about O2 and T-mobile before, but some people on this forum have the opinion that T-mobile is far better than O2.

It's not speed throttling or coverage, rather t-mobile is slow went it comes to loading speed and sometime it wouldn't load mostly during peak times.

I had to pay £5 once for T-mobile internet booster, but same poor speed.
