i currently have sky+ which is due to be cancelled next week. my question is do both cables still receive a valid signal (albeit limited).

the reason for this is so i can plug one cable into the digibox and the other into dvb-s box/card?

Thanks

i believe so yes.

if you have sky+ though you wont be able to record nor view previously recorded programs.

thanks for that - i was aware of the recording function loss but i wasnt sure how that was enabled - i.e. turn off one cable (?)

The main requirment is to have the 2nd cable to feed a dvb-s card to get BBC HD

the recording facility is actually a secondary subscription held within your primary subs on your profile on their computer system.

Yes. Despite amazing advances in technology, there is still no way for Sky to send a signal that disconnects the cables from your LNB. :)
