I have a Sony VPH 1030QM that is arcing / fizzing at the high voltage splitter. When it's not arcing the picture is fine, is there a cure for this or is a new splitter required?

If the only answer is to replace the splitter does anyone have one?

Turn the lights out see if you can see where it is arcing. It may be one of the leads breaking down.
Keep your fingers clear or it may find a new way to earth.
Splitters do break down over time so you are probably up for a replacement.
I haven't had a 1030 through in a long while.

Thanks for the tip - there is a purple / blue haze that goes from the HV o/p to the red tube to the front of the splitter and looks like it follows the casing down to the chassis. Periodically the whole thing just arcs over to the nearest metal object in this case to the HV transformer.

If no spares available can I fix it some other way?

I don't htink you will ever be able to fix a splitter They are sealed for that reason
You'll need a replacement by the sound of it.
