I am looking to buy one of these players, the 40gb version, I have a few questions, can someone help?

First off, can I use an external non powerd card card reader to view my pictures?

Does this unit have a sleep timer?

    Is the screen quality good?

And lastly is £190 a good price (new) ?

    Thanks very much :)

firstly if you mean a non powered card reader in order to view whats on an sd card for example, i'm not sure. but the archos comes with a usb lead which you can connect to a camera in order to transfer pictures from the camera to the archos. hope that helps
the screen quality is excellent in my opinion
and the whole unit is definately worth £190

Thanks for the info, just need to find out if this unit will run an external card reader, I use a number of diff cameras when out and about and they range from memory stick, sd and cf, so it would be a lot better if I could plug the cards into a reader rather than run from the camera, thanks again for the info :)

My card reader works on my AV500 so you should be OK with the AV700. Doesn't like USB powered external disk drives though.

just checked it out. very tempting!!!
this confirms the original query aswell although it looks as though the external device needs to be powered, so i'm guessing an unpowered card reader wouldnt work!
Connect Another USB Device to the AV 700 TV Anywhere You Are
The AV 700 TV features a USB Host Port enabling you to copy, share, connect and transfer files directly from other powered mass storage devices such as digital cameras, card readers, USB keys, and powered portable hard drives. Additionally, the AV 700 TV is recognized as a mass storage drive on your PC or Mac giving you the possibility to store any computer file using the high-speed USB 2.0 interface (backward USB 1.1 compatible a t a lower speed)

No it doesn't - from what I remember it only has digital. We had one for a week, and gave up on the poor reception so bought the standard AV700.

All four Archos devices I've had had been able to be connected to a standard card reader to download photos from a memory card.
