When I plug my archos av480 into my windows xp pc it says new hardware found on the task bar but when I open explorer it doesn't give it a new drive letter like it's supposed to. But when I look in device manager it shows that there is a new hdd called toshiba.

Can anyone help me?

Are you using service pack 2 or have you installed the drivers from the archos website?

yeah i have been using sp2, i've also tried on anoter pc without it. The archos instructions says it doesn't need a driver and there are none on it's site! It's just meant to plug and play.

Thanks,

Mark

Hmm. I'm not sure then. I knew of people who had problems with sp1 etc but it was all resolved with sp2.
In Device manager does it say if there are any conflicts?
Check under hard drives and in the usb controller section. It shoud show up in both. One as a tosh HDD and in the other as a usb mass storage device. Prehaps it is not enabled with one of them?
