    Hi

I am thinking of buying a consumer DVD recorder - probably the new Panasonic E-50.

However, I am becoming attracted by the HTPC route. I have Sky+ but wish to archive to DVD - Tv series & films I wish to keep.

Would a HTPC with a card such as Nebula DigiTV PCI DTTV Card and DVD writer do the trick ?

I do not have a normal / digital RF aerial only Sky. Can Sky+ (has scart and s-video) be fed into that card and will it record the datastream ?

Presumably this can be burned to a DVD writer ?

As a side issue - some Sky+ movies are broadcast in DD5.1 - if the datastream is recorded - can they be archived to DVD preserving DD5.1 ? If so then it is an advantage over a standalone consumer DVD recorder - only records DD2.0.

    Any views ?

    Thanks

    Karl
