I read in my instructions that if I turn display Off for the Arcam FMJ CD 36, sound quality improves. Tried it, and did not hear any difference. Maybe somebody else does, but my question is : what's the relation from the display to improve sound ? Thanks.

Audiophile fish wives tale unfortunately. Meant to mean a decrease in electrical noise in the players circuitry, Ive had a few player in my time with this ability, never once heard any difference. If you think about it, you would imagine a DVD player that has the same ability would improve the picture with the display dimmed or off as well :rotfl:

Think of it as a marketing exercise dude.

It does reduce noise, and takes less juice from the heart of your player.

Don't expect a big difference. Most of the time it won't be noticeable, but that along with a few other little tweaks to your system, all add up to make a noticeable one.

Try it, and a few other things, you might be suprised.

You'll get better improvements by cleaning your ears before listening. You might want to sit in the dark, turn off your fridge, close your road off and kill your neighbours while you're at it.
