I'm about to upgrade from my old Arcam Alpha 5 cd player.
I'm considering one of these two players. I use valve amplification. I listen to ethnic, jazz, soft rock and a little bit of classical music.
Has anyone auditioned or does own the aforementioned cd players?
I 'd like to have your recommendations.
Any opinion will be gladly accepted.
    Thanks! :)

Hi, I have just upgraded from an Alpha 5 CD til a FMV CD23. The change is amazing. I was going to buy an Alpha 9 (Which is what I could buy here in Denmark) This is also a great player. But the cunning salesman, casually put my trial CD on an FMJ23 "just while I'll find the packaging sir". It took less then 10 seconds for me to decide that He could put the Alpha 9 box back where it came from.
I have since upgraded my trusty AR Cambridge pre/power combo to an FMJ A25 and reused my old power amp to bi-amp my Kef 104's The result is that I now need to hear all my CD's again. :smashin:

I have the CD33 and can honestly say it is stunning. The are a number of differences between the DiVA series CD192 and the FMJ CD33 most of them fairly subtle internal differences but the most obvious being the casework and build quality. Stereophile magazine just reviewed it recently, there is a link below.

    Thanks for the info given!
Yesterday I phoned an Arcam dealer and I was offered a CD 93 the predecessor model of CD 192 at a very competitive price. so, should i buy the CD93 or go up to CD33 ? Any opinions? Are there significant differences in sound quality between CD93 and CD33 ?

Thanks! though I'm familiar with Arcam products. I have a Delta 290 integrated (purchased in 1993) and an Alpha 5 Cd player (purchased in 1994)still working after all these years. Now I use them as a second system in my office. :)

I auditioned the CD33 with C30 pre and P1 monoblocks driving Audiovector M3 Avantgarde speakers. After one hour of listening I was sure about my choice!
