Funny noone wrote about this one yet! Secret?
Also AV300 is coming, another OEM, what more can it do than AV200?
Maybe Mr.Dawson could enlighten the freaks on this site

I heard someone else mention the AVR300.. though not seen any official info on it..

I wonder if the DV78 is a lower spec/cheaper model.. if the model numbering is correct .

How do you work that out? A DV27 is a lower number than DV88 or DV89. Perhaps the DV78 is a better player. ;)

Although there is the DV79 too.

From what I heard it should be entry DVD player from Arcam, don't know anything else.
That's why I asked it here first.

Saw an ad in the September/October issue of "The Perfect Vision" from Audiophile Systems, the USA distributor for Arcam products. It mentioned the DV78 thus...

"Arcam introduces their first "under a grand" offering."

    ...and for the AVR300...

"Before the end of the year you'll also see the new AVR300 receiver fill the gap between their standard-setting AV8 surround processor and entry-level AVR200."

I think the ad was mis-timed since there is no mention of these products on Audiophile Systems' web site.

    Right John?! :)

Now I saw that advert too (Stereophile)!
AS were always too fast in giving it away :)
I guess it brings some headache to the manufacturers they represent

Did the articale say if the amp would have video-transcoding/ upsampling (Sic)? This is the most important thing for me as I have a Barco arriving in two weeks and I am going to buy a 3803 unless these is a good reason not to.

The plan was to mate a DV2900 with an AVR3803, however I already have a DV88+ and an AVR3803 in my family room.

Potentially I could mate the DV88+ with an AVR300 and the 3803 with a 2900 this would be my first choice.

Obviously I want to get the cinema going as fast as possible but the screen won't arrive untill mid October so if the AVR300 is imminent and has video transcoding that is they way I will go. Either way I just need to know where I stand so I would appreciate some information if there is any known.

They were all at CEDIA :)

Stereo Stereo have a pair of the mono blocks on dem if someone wants to hear them.

The DVD is a cheaper unit than 88/89

All I remember about the AVR300 is that it sounded like it had a good specification.....
