For those that didn't make it ...
I had a listen to the DVD-A board upgrade for the DV88+/FMJDV27 at the Glasgow AV/HiFi show today ... very impressed ;-)
The board has a conventional 6 x RCA phono outputs ... can be used in stereo or 6-channel output modes ... the 96Khz stereo sounds fantastic ... the 6-channel is very good but obviously much more dependent on the original mastering/mixing for best effect ...
Setup was with new FMJ AV8 pre-processor in THX Ultra II / 7.1 mode with the 7-channel FMJ P7 power amp into a Snell & Wilson speaker setup with a twin-driver sub the size of a domestic fridge !! Dvd was put through a SIM 2 projector and the wide variety of material was seen and heard to best effect ... (room/display was setup by Stereo-Stereo and our/their very own Gordon (Convergent AV) ... well done guys
Also managed to have a chat with John Dawson of Arcam (who also gave a great presentation on display setup) and advised that us DV27 owners should be able to give our players a New Year DVD-A treat ... it'll be well worth it !!
