The dealer I purchased my DV88 from just phoned me today, letting me know about a software update.

Has anyone else heard of this? If so, what is the update for?

Thanks for responding, I was previously aware of the FAQ but hadn't thought to look there.

However, they list latest firmware as 1.74 and drive as LO14. Which is the version my DV88 was purchased at. Was going to get it updated next weekend, but would like to know what it is for.

Guess I will drop Arcam an email and post any reply here.

OK I don't know exactly what the updates are for but here's what I think.

As the FMJ27 and DVD88 share the same drive mechs and control systems it's probably to unify the firmware in both models to allow consistency of upgrades now they are both available. It'll probably also help with playing back problem discs and sort out the DTS drop out thing a few folk have mentioned in the past.

So far all the nits we've done have continued to work, as before, perfectly. So there's no need to worry unduly if you're concerned.

    Hope this helps,

    Gordon

I e-mailed Arcam support and recieved the following reply:

"Just for your information, all Arcam Dealers to date do have this upgrade available but will not know what the upgrade covers, which is mainly in-house information held here at Arcam.

The improvements covered are generally to do with dvd disc's that have produced poor playing conditions when either watching or within a menu/sub menu. "

Has anybody experienced any of the 'poor playing conditions' mentioned?
