Not sure what my Arcam DV88 DVD player can playback, other than the usual. It's one of the first players but with the latest firmware / software drivers.

Wondered if it could playback a windows avi on an ordinary read/write CD ? If not what would the avi have to be encoded into in order to enable playback on the machine.

    cheers

DV88 will play back CDRs with VCD or SVCD encoding on them. A program like Nero will do this for you.

DV88 will also playback MP3s and mine plays some DVDRs too.

Makes a mess of a few R2 DVDs though!!
Also having trouble getting it to play the PCM and DTS tracks of DVD-A discs.

Nice one, fortunately I've got Nero so I'll look into encoding a Video CD using it.
