I am thinking about replacing my cd with a dvd-player, and had a old arcam cd a couple of years ago. Now I found a Arcam DV89 at a nice price, but i seems like it is no longer produced by arcam. So I hav a couple of questions:

What are the differences between the DV79 and DV89?
    Especially regarding CD-play back?
Now the DV79 is a few €100 cheaper than the DV89 is it worth the extra cash?

    Regards

Briefly, the DV79 is a newer and more cost effective design than the DV89. In my opinion it has (even) better sound quality on CD than the DV89. It also supports HDMI video which may be useful if you intend to get a display that supports this in the future.
