I am debating the difference between arcam new dv 29 , quite expensive and arcam dv 79 half the price. Anyone have in suggestions or comments with the difference or pros and cons with these items many thanks
The DV79 has HDMI 1.0 that can only carry stereo sound. The DV29 has HDMI 1.1 that can carry full 5.1 surround sound. The other main advantage of the DV29 over the DV79 is the audio quality. The DV79 works well as a CD player (unlike most DVD players), but the DV29 has even better replay. So much so that I don't even have a dedicated CD player any more. Mark.
I was told not using the HDMI option but the regular connections the 5.1 channel is no problem for the DV79?
Yes, the DV79 has a 5.1 analogue output that works for DVD-A/DD/DTS and the normal digital coax & optical multichannel outputs. It is just limited to stereo via HDMI. Mark.
