Hello All,

Newbie from the states. Is it physically possible to have a better looking picture in 480i than 480p? I recently switched and it seems more film-like. My TV is a Sony 34" XBR360 with Straightwire componet cables. Thanks!

hello 480p will be better the picture is progressive (p) not interlanced (i)
in lay-mans terms progressive is more of a stable clear picture.

You might like the deinterlacer on your TV over the DV79's one. Different deinterlacing can definitely alter the general look of the picture, aside from how it deals with various deinterlacing probs.

Timbo,

Is it possible that the deinterlacer is of higher quality in the Sony than the Arcam? What do you suggest?
