Arcam AVR200 => lack of bass/low any advice?

Having tested a setup of Arcam
DV 88 + AVR200 + A85
I was stuned by the detail and smoothness in soundstage,
imaging an directness.
I couldn't get any bass however.
My speakers are Tannoy's Defenitions D500 main plus surround
D750 centre and a REL Q150E sub.
Quite agressive speakers when it comes to bass and so on, but very clear soundstaging etc.

New perfect recordings sound smooth with tight bass, though a bit flaw. Using the sub couldn't solve this.
Other recordings sounded empty. Wonderful high's and mids, but no low.

Than the cinema experience.
Well, it's completely missing.
No "sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-chair-feeling".
I tested Gladiator (DTS), Deep Blue Sea (DD), and both didn't make me shake in my chair like the Yamaha RXV-795a does.
Sub's volume was set to max, roll-off was set to 80 Hz where
I only need a fraction of the volume and about 39 Hz when using the Yammie.

I tested a Denon AVR 3802 alongside the Arcam, but this was too agressive in bass I switched it off after 2 minutes leaving me with a headache.

So, shortly, what the denon and Yamaha have too much the Arcam lacks.

How can I solve this.
I have spoken to my local dealer an we've decided to hook up a Myryad MA500 to the AVR 200 to see if this would get some more low.

I really hope there's a good solution to this as I'm in love with the sound and detail the Arcam delivers in combination with the Tannoy's. Just the darn lack of bass keeps me doubting.

I already bought the DV-88 plus as I was stunned by the detail in picture and sound quality.

Well done Arcam:D

I've sent something like this to Arcam as well, but still no answer yet. Hopefully this will come this week.

Any other advice from you forummers would be welcome.

Thanx in advance

I paired my Tannoy D500 with a recovered Sansui au317ii and was really impressed, to say the least. I have to say that I am fairly new to hi-fi, however. I am now searching for proper cables (i can't spent fortunes)... let me know if you have suggestions. Best
