Suggestions on what cables are needed to best connect these two products.
I've heard you should utilise the DAC's in the DV88.
Anyone have a photo of the back of these products.

I'd connect the coax output on the DV88 to the VAR100's DVD coax input, using something like the IXOS 105 coax lead.

Run stereo phonos to the CD input on the receiver to benefit from the DVD's good DAC's.
If you use the DVD stereo inputs it will auto switch to the digital input when you play a disc.

    Rick,

I'm just curious here (I own the DV88 btw)..How do I really know the player is using the analog outputs when playing cd's? It could still be using the digital ones, or is that not possible (I use an optical cable..is it true that coax would sound better?)

    cheers,<br />Marcel

You will know if the DV88's DAC's are being used because the analog signal indicator will show up on your Av amp/receiver's display, and when you switch to digital nothing will be heard.

Have you wired for DVD/digtial through the DVD digital input, and CD/analogue through the CD stereo phono analogue input?

I would use the co-ax, but the sound difference can depend on the cables used.
