Someone on this forum ( other than me ) would remind you that, by staying with the AV9 and using the 7.1 direct inputs, you're missing out on the THX Ultra 2 (+) post processing. The reality is, you are NOT getting the full benefit of these new formats and it's time to move on.
Get yourself a new processor and live the new formats to the full.. Look out for the new Arcam... but remember both Denon and Pioneer already have some excellent products on the market.
Sorry, I don't need a new processor. I never use THX as I do not like what it does to the high frequencies. Besides, THX was designed for DVDs that had shrill soundtracks, needed timbre matching, and the like. My speakers all match, and the problem shrill soundtracks is almost non existent with today's releases. Plus, you don't need THX with the new surround codecs. You must work for an audio retailer.
