Having loved the Arcam Alpha 10, I now also have the A85 and FMJ A22 as possibles......

It's to go with an upgraded Marantz CD63 MKII KI and Ruark Talisman II's

Does anyone have any opinions or first hand experience of which is best?

With hifi there is only one person's opinion that counts, and that's YOURS.

Sorry if it's not the reply you wanted to hear, but it really does come down to personal preference.

Hi Gibbs MK,

Personally even though Arcam amps have excellent detail, speed and excitement, I felt them to sound lean and weak.

I prefer Musical Fidelity amps myself. But that's a personal choice. In your case you may love the Arcam amps and hate MF.

So the only way is to find a decent hifi dealer who is willing to spend time with you and audition several amps with your kind of music.

i would say if you're thinking of going with the A85 to seriously considering bi-amping with a P85, i found the diva range to be a little lightweight on it's own but boy does it open up bi-amped.

prepare to be a little underwhelmed on it's own though.
