Arcade stick

Does anyone know whether peripherals are universal and whether an arcade stick released for the Wii would automatically work with all beat em ups and 2d shooters?

Well i've done a bit of searching and it appears that it'll work with all games that support the classic controller. Amazon already have it down for pre-order for October at £29.99.
