I have a Tosh 36ZP18P and now am at the point of wanting to add an amp and better speakers. I have purchased, although not yet arrived,a Yamaha RX-V 1500. My real question is how do I fit it together to best use the features of both amp and TV.
    My current set up is:
1)Optical cable from TV to BitstreamPCM on DVD
    2) Scart connecting TV to Skybox
3)Scart connecting S Video on TV to AV1 on VCR
    4) Component cable from video out on DVD toVideo in on TV
    5) Scart connecting Skybox toAV2 on VCR

Sorry for the long winded explanation but the amp manual shows diagrams of each component connected separately with not a scart in sight. Do I need any more cables and will the scarts be redundant? Will the amp be better at controlling things than the TV? Any help appreciated.

I have a Toshiba 36ZP18P connected to a Denon amp.

I connect the video cables directly between the components as you have on your present system (not through the Amp)

I connect the audio cables through the amp.

So in order to get the best Audio from your new setup

    1) Connect optical cable from DVD to Amp
    2) Ok plus audio cable from Sky Box to Amp
    3) Ok plus audio cable from VCR to Amp
    4) Ok already have optical cable connected as in 1
    5) Ok

In addition you may wish to connect TV audio cable to amp if you view throgh the aerial.

In summary you need 3 sets audio cable
    Sky to Amp
    VCR to Amp
    TV to Amp

Thanks £note very helpful. I will do it the same way. As you can tell this is all new to me. I wasn't sure if the amp could enhance picture quality in any way although I'm sure you'll agree it is a great picture anyway.

I never watch through the aerial always use sky.
