Apple vs Samsung Patent Case set for Jury Selection today

Another day, another Apple v Samsung legal battle

Jury selection is set to commence later today in the States for the latest patent battle between Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd as the pair vie for global domination of the mobile market.

Samsung are facing a potential U.S. ban on the sales of its Galaxy smartphones and tablet computers as the American manufacturer will seek to use Samsung's own documents to demonstrate its rival knowingly violated Apples' IP. Samsung will counter that Apple is trying to stifle competition to maintain "exorbitant" profit, according to court filings.

"If I were Samsung I would be concerned about what prospective jurors think about Apple, given that it's a huge employer there," James Dobson, a jury consultant with Empirical Creative said. " but by and large jurors want to do the right thing and decide the case on the merits."

The trial is expected to last at least four weeks.
