With the latest Mac OS X, Mountain Lion due for release very soon, the 'Gold Master' version has now been given out to developers ahead of the mass launch. It's expected that Mountain Lion will be released to the public around July 25, following Apple's annual earnings call.

The upgrade that will cost users $19.99 for the App Store is predictably highly anticipated and promises more than 200 new features, many of which are designed to further the integration with iThings and the cloud. The release will also include Gatekeeper, which lets you control the apps that run on your Mac.

In a statement, Apple said: "The new iCloud Documents pushes any changes to all your devices so documents are always up to date, and a new API helps developers make document-based apps work with iCloud."
