The NATO question is a bit odd in a British citizenship test - it's not exactly unique to Britain.

Instead of a test they should be teaching citizen hopefuls how to queue properly, not to stare, quietly mutter to oneself when things go wrong and moan about the weather.

Seriously though, what does knowing British history give any indication of whether I'm a worthy UK citizen or not?

As long as I pay my taxes, don't commit crime...
Surely that's all that's required to be a good citizen?
