Good stuff, can replace my battered Canadian one now.
I don't know why anyone would want this after the really nice 3-disc boxset that came out ages ago. I wonder if this steelbook will have all 3 discs? Any fan needs the 3 discs anyway. Easy pass.
I quite like the artwork but I already own the Italian version, so it's a pass for me.
Never seen the film is it better than Platoon ??
Far superior to Platoon in my opinion
It's because we are after Steelbooks in this part of the forum silly.
I know that! But the boxset has been out years and its very nice too. Cant believe there's many people who haven't got it already.
Hahaha I know you know but me personally don't do boxsets, well not by choice anyway. So a steel of a great film is always welcome.
I've never seen it, perhaps this steel is a good opportunity to put that right. Seems mixed in comments elsewhere, quite a bit of "bored to tears" "overrated" etc, it's not like The Thin Red Line is it?
What?! This is a classic and is seen as the best war film of all time by many people including me. Is this a wind-up?! Have a look at some proper reviews - not the likes of youtube etc.
The Thin Red Line is also seen as a classic by some - not by me. Its very good - as a cure for insomnia. I tried watching it twice and went to sleep both times.
Apocalypse Now is a bona fide classic and deserves to be in anyone's collection. I would check that this steelbook comes with the Hearts of Darkness disc though (so should be 3 discs total).
I can send you a disc to watch if you want. Then you can decide.
I have been looking at proper reviews... Youtube? what do you take me for! Will always be plenty who don't rate a film (or anything) look at you and the Marvel stuff, absolute sacrilege so i'm not even sure i can trust you!
That's how i feel about it too so when i saw some similar comments about AN i was thinking oh dear but i've read plenty of good stuff now too so i can see how rated it is... my opinions the only one that counts though!
It does say special edition and the arts the same isn't it so hopefully it'll be the 3 discs then but i'll wait until some one has it in hand, will be waiting for a price drop anyway.
Well Apocalypse Now is seen as a milestone in American cinema.
I'm not sure any of those (bloody ) Marvel films can be called that (or I hope not anyway! ).
The Thin Red Line is more....arty but to me its a nature documentary with some bits of war and dialogue spliced in. You'd have to see it to know what I mean though!
Is that an original Disc or a Verbatim DVD+R DL disc ??
May have to get it cheap on DVD first before i commit
Cheeky begger, It's me genuine Canadian Steel
Personally, apart from the choppers flying, THAT music and one line. I was bored. Don't understand the fuss about it. But hey, that opinions for you. I'd rather watch many other war films.
This ain't a patch on the Italian one, no way
miles better then the Italian...However prefer the french digibook
I'm not a war movie fan but i've seen this one a very long time ago and it is a classic.
I would not compare it to The Thin Red Line which like some have already said it, is more of a Arty documentary then a war movie.
I agree that those who like this movie should really have a look at the Redux 3 disc versions.
Amazon.fr still has this on sale at a cheaper price then this steelbook with a 300 page book (numbered edition) but i think the book might be in french though
But the discs are in English.
This steelbook should include 3 discs but i really doubt it will. It will probably have 2 discs maximum like the Italian/Spanish version that came out a few years ago. Worst case scenario will be a single disc version which will be a poor effort.
Since its Studio Canal, i guess it will be gloss finish without embossing while the Italian/Spanish version was embossed i think.
While it didn't show any information on the amount of discs included yesterday, it now shows it only includes 1 single disc. If this is true, i'm wondering what they mean with "Special Edition".
It would mean that both cuts are on one disc.
Zavvi says 153 min which is definitely the theatrical version runtime.
The Redux/Director's cut version is just short of 200 min if a remember.
To be confirmed...
Not really going to know until it's in hand, most likely the info on site is inaccurate which happens. I'm expecting 2 discs like previous releases, don't think the 3rd disc (which is the documentary isn't it?) will get included but you never know.
This is what I currently have so 2 seperate discs would be good.
This will be the StudioCanal disc(s) so separate it should be
That 3rd disc includes Hearts of Darkness which is a must for any fan of the film.
Separate names with a comma.
