Maybe I'm being unfair but I've just watched R2 Artificial Intelligence and I thought that the picture quality was apalling, very grainy and a great lack of detail. The movie was pretty weak too.

Can't comment on the R2 version as I haven't seen it. But managed to get hold of an academy review copy of the R1 version at work a while ago, and it looked very good.

I agree with you about the film in general, I expected it to be a bit darker in the Kubrick sense, as it was his last project before he died. But I found it too slow and sentimental for my taste (Speilberg's involvement?).

A wasted opportunity in my opinion.

My appologies for boring you  but R2 of this DVD has only been released (officially) today, Monday 18/03/02, so I do not see how it could have been mentioned before, I'm sure that you are refering to the R1 version. I had not looked up any posts regarding R1 version, ironic when you consider that the movie is about intelligence . Luckly I only rented.
