Impressive machine, Thanks for the review. Its hard to know if mobile GPU's are closing the gap to desktop cards because the mobile gpu's are improving or if the desktop cards are lagging behind. Either way its good to see.

Dont really see the point of these 'high end' laptops, yes they can play gamesd at high settings but only when the power is plugged in or they are throttled and the battery life is terrible. Yes the engineering to get something so powerful in such a small case is impressive but for me these are niche products for people with to much money, give me a desktop pc anytime cheaper and much more powerful.

Hi Greg, another great review as always. However there is also another manufacturer that makes high end gaming laptops that seem to be reviewed very well and that is the PC Specialist. Some of their laptops are now being sold online and in stores by certain retailers. Would be great if you could get some of their laptops in and review them. Also Greg I really like the fact that you commented on sound quality which to me is quite important when it comes to a laptop. I'm looking to buy one hopefully at the end of this year and a must have feature is decent built in speakers ! Cheers :)

Just to add that Scan also offer custom based high end gaming laptops under their 3XS Brand. Again, would be great if they could be reviewed at some point please by the AVForums Team. Thanks :)

Thanks for the comments. :) Some of the laptops, even gaming ones have shocking on-board sound so it's definitely an area to be careful of.
I've reviewed for Scan in the past so I'm sure there will be some of their laptops appearing for me in the future. As for PC Specialist I have not had any dealings with them but can pass the comments onto to the top brass to see if they can make contact.

Great review, Great use of diagrams much better than constant prose.
Suprising slow boot time.
