bad experiences? glad its not an amstrad? glad there is a box coming!
I consider the first gen SKY+ and Digibox from PACE to be excellent so would have liked PACE once again to lead the charge but I don't really have any worries about Thomson.
It all comes down to the spec SKY set down and how much they pressure the supplier on cost, the first gen units have to be good otherwise the whole thing will collapse.
The Sky+160 is a Thompson, and it's largely fine (or mine is, at least).
I've had the odd glitch (like the painful high-pitched noise that sometimes accompanies the EPG), but nothing too bad.
My 5year(ish) old TiVo is made by Thompson, no problems yet (crosses fingers).
I'm just happy it wasn't an Amstrad
Me too. 5 years with no problems whatsoever, positively delighted its a Thompson. If they make it to the same standards as they made my TIVO box, we'll have a great product.
I keep wondering if my box is already assembled and sitting on a shelf waiting to be assigned to me............
H (sad innit)
Again, echo earlier comments that I am glad that it is not to be made by Amstrad. I have Sky+ box by Amstrad...touch wood it has been fine recently....but about 6 months ago I had to have it replaced 3 times.
Thomson is fine with me, Would have prefered Pace but thank god it isn`t an Amstrad.
Now if only they would release the damn things
better have a tie in with kleenex then
Isn't that the EPG music?
