I believe some high end amps and reciever now come equipped with a firewire input.
Has anyone out there tried hooking up an iPod via firewire (using the suppied Firewire cable from the iPod's dock connector to the amp)?
How does it sound in comparison to analogue (minijack to phono)?

    Just a thought!

I believe the firewire connection on an iPod is purely for file transfer. I wouldn't recommend connecting it to the firewire port on your amp, which is designed to receive a digital music stream.

Sensible advice! I don't have a firewire amp, I was just curious.
