Currently undecided to go for a Denon 2803 and 6.1/7.1 speakers or go the PC route http://www.digitalconnection.com/Products/Audio/revolution.asp

Would there be much difference in audio quality between the two?. How do you go about setting up something like this as Im a total beginner at audio equipment. How many amps do you need for a 6.1/7.1 audio system?

Will you be viewing the picture thro a Plazma, TV or Projector?

You will still need to buy an amp but I gues you already know that.

So the first questing will be the deciding factor.

The only audio card I have heard was a RME thro a Denon AV1SR.

have a look at my thread http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=70424&goto=newpost if you notice it is in the HTPC section of this forum where you will probable get a better responce.

The m-audio seem to be a popular choice if you want good sould for reasonable cost..

Go confused and can't think why I asked what display you were using. Probable coz I am in similar shoes to you and have HTPC on the brain :)
