Anyone using a mid-2010 27" iMac as a PC monitor sucessfully?

I've got a 27" mid-2010 iMac that I want to hook up a Windows PC to and use the iMac as a monitor.

It's supposed to be possible via the iMac Mini DisplayPort input.

However, I have tried using a Kanex XD converter and the HDMI port on my GeForce GT530 graphics card in the PC but without sucess. I ensured the PC was outputting a 720p signal, but all I could manage was a black screen on the iMac.

So - has anyone any sucess with using the iMac as an external monitor, and if so, how did you go about it?

Thanks for any help...

Do you still use the iMac as a seperate unit or do you doily want it as a monitor now? If you only want it as a monitor then you will probably be better off selling it and getting a monitor!
