Anyone used Microsoft remote tech support

I have Win 10 laptop that was upgraded for free from 7 to 10, but I can't activate it.

I googled the issue and ended up on the MS support site. There's a chat function which I started using and they suggested I let them remote access my laptop to fix it. I declined for now.

Anyone done this? Any problems? Just not that keen on letting some random employee get access to my PC.

I doubt there is much risk as long as you are wholly confident the people at the other end are (accredited representatives of) Microsoft and not some look-alike scammer. I had cause to do this once in early Win8 days. Didn't solve the issue - that took a new version 8.1 - but there wasn't a problem in the remote access process itself.

Thanks. Good to know.
