Anyone used Expedite Electronics

Anyone used the above company as they seem to have some good prices. Just wondering if they are asia based and there would be vat and duty to pay on top.

I was wondering about them too. Looking at the site, their prices and the lack of hits on the web in general just makes me feel a little uneasy about who they are and where they are. Some of their prices are on the edge of being a little "... too good to be true".

I have concerns about this company. No phone number or address given either in the 'About Us' or 'Contact Us' pages or within T&C's. They want payment by PayPal. I have fallen for this once before. Prices look really good. Just enough to lure you in......decided to avoid this site.....

They're also a seller on amazon now, but aren't covered by the A to Z guarantee... Surely amazon do some background on sellers?

Hi all, I read this thread last night before I took the plunge in buying a new phone from Expedite. I made the decision to go ahead and do it, more so because payment made via paypal. The Expedite website does say that all customs charges etc are all sorted so price you see is the price you pay (Big issues with people buying from other companies based in Hong Kong then getting stung with vat and customs charges). Also, the paypal payment details are for a company called Magifresh Limited - I looked them up and they are an electronics outfit based in Hong Kong but seem legit enough. When I paid for my order, the status stayed on processing (you can log in to their site and check orders etc) but this morning it has changed to complete. I think and hope that this is a decent site. Probably a smaller outfit in HK starting out and copying T+C from other established electronics sites! Anyway, I will let you know when (if!) I receive my phone but hope that other people can add their experiences to this thread so that anyone considering buying from them can judge whether or not they are any good.

Signed up to post this message because this was the only discussion about Expedite that I could spot when I looked them up. Thought I'd say something about my experience. I'm the same J69 as on OcUK and various car forums.

I also came across them through the 'Product Ads from External Websites' on Amazon. Nexus 7 was a clear £15 cheaper from them so I thought I'd have a search around to try and find anything out about the company. Nothing except for this thread and some Facebook pages which were only advertising. I figured the same thing as crabby ^ about Amazon checking backgrounds on their external sellers, so I decided to take a risk anyway since. The Paypal payment seemed to be covered by Paypal's buyer protection guarantee. Took screenies of all the pages along the way just in case.

Nexus 7 has arrived and appears to be completely above board, and legit. Latest model as expected, brand new, preloaded with Android 4.4 and default language in English. Shipping took one week, arrived by Parcelforce at my work address in good condition and it was dispatched from an address in West Drayton, Middlesex. No hidden extras to pay.

So they seem to be legitimate. Don't ask me how they sell everything so cheap. I think the risk you take with them is probably with customer services because the phone number is not English and the website is registered in Hong Kong if you look it up, as mentioned above. I don't know how easy returns etc might be if anything goes wrong, but consider I was just going to buy it from John Lewis at £239 and be done with while Expedite had it for £185...

Thanks Jonny... Glad to hear yours went okay.

Chris, don't suppose you have seen anything more concrete to show they're the same?

Just what a quick focussed Google search found.
Quote from Overclockers forum thread
" I would avoid that shop like the plague if I were you, reviews online of them are pretty much universally bad. It appears they are actually based in Hong Kong and they seem to have at least 2 online shop fronts - Expedite Electronics and Simply Electronics seem to be the same company."

Is this a fact though? I admit, they are very similar (website, pricing etc) but I can't find any actual link. I have tried to log in to simply electronics site using my login details for expedite with no joy.
I believe there is a UK warehouse but I am half expecting shipping from Hong Kong, either way I don't expect the phone to arrive until 3 - 7 working days at the earliest. You never know though, I may be surprised!

You, sir... Are my benchmark! If everything works out for you, then I am officially sold and will be buying from them this weekend.

So, make sure you post back as soon as you're happy with the product! :)

Just re registered to say that all of the scare mongering is totally false. I got so paranoid that I ended up filing a paypal dispute. iPhone 5C 32GB Green has turned up today exactly as described and was shipped from within the UK with a UK return address on the package. Their communication does leave a little to be desired and expect the 3-7 day to be 7 but it was delivered by Parcel Force today exactly as the seller said it would be. The company are registered in HK but think the goods are UK based. Either way I am a very happy buyer and maybe people should actually order (protected by paypal and was the secured site!) before spreading false information!
Thanks for this... Starting to get an itchy trigger finger. My wife would love a Nokia 1520.

This is exactly what I am after and wanted to check them out before I went for it. I would hope that Amazon have some idea of who they are advertising for and wouldn't be promoting a dodgy company??!! I think after your experiences I am very tempted to just go for it. Paypal covers purchases, so hopefully that would help in the worst case scenario. I also found Expedite Electronics on Facebook & Twitter, I know anyone can be on these sites, but it makes me feel a little easier in the sense that I may be able to get in touch with them (although if they were dodgy, they are not going to reply to any message, so it makes no difference really). Right, decided, I am going to go for it, fingers crossed the service you had J69 will be duplicated!

Just to let you know that the parcel arrived at 9.30 this morning. This is the 6th working day (after) ordering. Not the quickest delivery in the world but there were no additional charges for delivery and within the anticipated timeframe so cannot criticise. Unfortunately I am away on business, but might pop in to the office tonight to pick up my parcel (if I can't contain myself until tomorrow!). Will post an update to confirm the condition of the item, whether it looks refurbished, overseas stock etc.

Hi, just saw this thread. I have recently brought a Nokia 1520 off of Expedite Electronics. I ordered on Friday evening and just received it today. Glad to say all is working well and is as advertised. I thought there would be something wrong with it being £339 but I've been proved wrong so far.

Thanks :)

Thought I'd test them a bit so sent them an email to say I would have been happy to pay a surcharge for quicker delivery. Got a reply from a guy called Sam Chan - in perfect English he said they currently only offer the 4-6 day option and that my parcel should be delivered the first half of next week by Parcelforce. He asked if I wanted to proceed with the order on that basis, so I emailed back and he's come back thanking me and confirming the order.

I'm certainly not feeling left in the lurch at the moment... and your review only cements my view that I've done the right thing! :D

Update from me, received an email this morning confirming shipment with a Parcelforce tracking number. Have checked the tracking and it says 'in progress' and it is on an 'express 24' service, so I would expect to see it maybe Monday, which would be 6 days for delivery. The delivery time doesn't bother me if all else is good with it and especially when you can save the money. Looking good so far :)

Parcelforce have delivered, all looks ok. Box looks real and not in any way damaged. It was well packaged. Can't open it and check as it's a gift, but I expect i'll be told if it gets switched on and is in foreign :-/ So delivery for me took 4 working days, very pleased :)
