Anyone use the QED WM09 Speaker Wall Plate?

I am looking to use these wall plates and have some on order. Whilst i wait for delivery i was going to chop out for the back boxes but noted that they say it requires a 44mm back box. This is huge and given i am chasing into engineering bricks is a nightmare task. Do you have these face plates and if so what size back box did you use. I cant for one minute imagine that it really needs a backbox so deep!!

they do need back boxes this deep.......... http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/Audio,+V.../IKON/EP-SPK25/displayProduct.jsp?sku=AV16446 may be better and fit shallower boxes the QED range use hamilton system 45 plates and do use very deep boxes (the length of the solder post behind plates)
