I have heard the one that mounts on the back and it is quite impressive, however it is not the same as 5.1

I bought one of these for my goodmans 1080p set & it works a treat, simply plugged it into the sub out socket on my tv. As it wont fit on the back of my set i have it on the bottom shelf of my av unit. I think toshiba charge £149 for it, i bought mine form ebay £69.99
