Anyone think there is too much Football/Sport at present on TV?

The other night there was a match on the BBC it finished and then we had 30 minutes of autopsy when just been shown It comes to the early evening news it's on for 10 min then local news 5 min(both of which should have been on for 30 min and 25 min) then it was back to the pundits 30 min before the match even started.
Last night on the 5 main channels at one point 2 football matches, boxing on an other and rugby on an other and to cap it all the channel showing a film puts a boxing film on.
During the week at the same time football, tennis and horse racing. Although makes a change from crap reality programs(often repeats).
Thank goodness for my Amazon sub.

It's 2018, so many viewing options it's a great time to live.

Simply turn it over if you're not interested.

Nope... Rugby on CH4, cricket on CH5, stuff under the red button, with FIA WEC, GT World Series sportcar racing channels on YT, including Ford Motorsports and Motul live streaming the Le Mans 24 hrs last weekend. BTCC on ITV. Happy days indeed.

There certainly is way too much sport on at the moment. I can't wait for the football to finish.

Yes, there is - but I think with child obesity high on the agenda it’s not a bad thing if it helps one kid get out and do some exercise.

      Also, Netflix > Prime :smashin:

As I did but as I said was there any reason for an hours discussion on football and cutting the news down. Yes news elsewhere but I always watch the BBC's early evening news, and their local news.
Anyway if I went elsewhere I would not be getting HD quality unless I subbed to something which not all people have. And if I could go elsewhere why not stick football on one of the other non HD channels.

The World Cup is only four weeks every four years. It’s not like it’s wall to wall sport 24/7.

What? Sitting and watching hours of football combats child obesity? Or do you mean those who can't stand it are getting out for a change?

I was going for the inspiration angle, but that also works. As does the “Dad is shouting drunkenly at the tv again” angle.

In today’s multi channel world, whether there is a lot of sport on or not should not impact anyone’s viewing. Even a bog standard freeview setup has access to a huge range of channels.

It’s not like years ago when you just had 4 channels and if two had sport on you were pretty much buggered if you didn’t like sport.

It would not be as bad if they kept it to the football but sticking a load of chit chat around it. you don't get film premiers on TV when they talk about it 30 min before it starts and 30 min after it about the plot and character development.
There often been a schedule when the games run over but well in time for the next program but they still have to have there said chit chat and cancel a program sometimes in the past of a limited series eg 4/4 which gets bumped to an other night or generally the following week.
Or make all the programs run late which can screw timer records up sometimes.
And what's more with the BBC they will run 3 adverts for coming programs and show some ident.
It may not be on 24/7 but it trumps everything else.

Tons of choice across loads of platforms. Don’t like sport, don’t watch it. Simple as that.

My God, if I didn't know better I'd say my Gran was behind half the posts on this thread. Live sport can be the most engaging and dramatic entertainment there is. Having a bit of free footy is a God send for those that can't afford Sky or BT IMO. Watching a game and reliving it on the local park afterwards was always a highlight of my childhood. Dribbling past players whilst doing a running commentary....Zico, still Zico, ZICO!!! GOOOOAAAAL!!!

It's but what I dislike is when other stuff gets affected by it. Films being delayed in the cinema (Incredibles, ant man..). Other TV shows being moved at short notice.

Read some of the above what you said already been mentioned and a comment about it.
If there loads of platforms which the main HD channels have why don't they move them to the non HD channels. As a say that really took the biscuit last night when at one point 4 had sport on and an other of all things stuck a sporting drama film at the same time.
I could just see someone at planning, wow the other 4 main channels have sport on and we don't have any sports lined up to compete, oh lets put a sports film on.

Why would they, the England game had like 20million viewers. It’s massive t.v event, one that happens once every 4 years. Why on earth would they bury it.
